The "LMFT" after my name means that I am licensed in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my PhD from Western Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, California. My professional experience includes working as a psychotherapist with children, adolescents and adults, in school settings, mental health, alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities.
I was originally trained in biofeedback at the Biofeedback Institute of San Francisco, and as part of my work have been teaching biofeedback since 1980.
My training as a neurofeedback therapist and QEEG Technologist is based on numerous seminars and workshops and on work with leaders and innovators in the field. In order to refine and expand my expertise I continue to attend a number of conferences every year. This is a necessity for being able to keep up with the newest developments in this relatively young, fast-growing field. I have been practicing as a neurofeedback therapist since 1990.

About My Practice
My neurofeedback practice is based on individualized diagnosis and treatment. It concerns itself with a multitude of conditions in children and adolescents as well as adults.
My main focus is on Attention Deficit Disorders and other neurobehavioral disorders. These disorders cover the spectrum from simple ADD without hyperactivity to more severe problems such as Tourette's Syndrome, Asperger's Disorder, and Autism. I also work with a number of other disorders, which will be mentioned below.
I develop an individual treatment plan for each client's specific health objectives. This treatment plan is based on Quantitative EEG's (brainmaps), the TOVA or the IVA (computerized tests which measure the variables of attention), and various other tests, in addition to the pattern of symptoms of the individual.
Many of my clients are referred by psychiatrists and other medical and mental health professionals. In addition, I use neurofeedback as a means to achieve an enhancement of brainwave patterns in people who may not be diagnosed with a disorder, but who want to develop themselves further. Some call this "peak performance," and I am also skilled in this branch of the field.
Since early 1998 I have added another instrument to my practice. It is called the LENS (Low Energy Neurotherapy System).
In addition to neurofeedback, I also use various kinds of instrumentation to train clients in other forms of self-regulation. Examples of instruments are Freeze-Framer, which focuses on heart rate variability and Capnometry, which helps regulate healthy breathing by measuring the level of carbon dioxide in the out-breath. Other modalities include Interactive Metronome, Roshi, and pROSHI, and HEG. Modalities are chosen based on which instrument or combination of instruments create the best improvement in the client. When desired and indicated, counseling is also a part of my services.
Another instrument, which can enhance the neurofeedback is a Photonic Stimulator. This apparatus emits infrared light, which has healing capacities.
Here are some other examples of conditions with which I have worked successfully:
* Neurological problems such as seizure disorder and head injury.
* Pain, such as migraines, muscle and other pain.
* Mood disorders, including depression and manic-depressive illness.
* Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, excessive
anger.
* Immune system disorders such as fibromyalgia, lupus and chronic fatigue syndrome.
* Another class of problems amenable to neurofeedback is addiction, whether it is to
alcohol or other chemical substances.
